SILLINESS

Oscar is making himself right at home and he and Maggie are now BFFs so they're into everything all the time together. Including surprising me in the shower this morning, now they smell like wet babies so they'll have to have a real bath this weekend.
Maggie laughing, I swear she was a cheerleader in a past life, I was trying to get her spirit hands but she stopped the min I turned on the camera.

Sad day...

Due to an irresponsible adult a dog died in my arms today. Neglect, hoarding, puppy mills, fighting animals....all are abuse and should be stopped. I know educating the public is key but no one seems to care. I very sweet dog named SGT was neglected and though he was taken to a vet wasn't treated properly and to stop his suffering. I saved him from a cold concrete pen only to give him an afternoon of love, a soft place to nap, a cheeseburger (that he had no business having) and an easier end. Though it broke my heart and a dear friend of mine who was with me it was the right thing to do for him and he was what really matters.

Animals can't tell you where they hurt, when or what happened the day it started which makes it harder for vets to help and more painful for the animal.

Even though SGT was in horrible pain he never tried to bite me, he still was wagging his tail and even enjoyed a little petting too.

He was a brave dog that deserved better, I hate I wasn't able to help more. I will not forget him, or what had happened to him.

People need to realize a pup is a long term commitment and regular vet visits, routine check ups, shots, medicine is required. You can't just throw another living thing away in the trash or put it in the backyard to forget. It needs love, attention, affection and a responsible owner. It was humans that domesticated these animals, it is our responsibility to care for them.

Be responsible!

Our new rescue

I went to the BJC 2 weeks ago and saw this little guy and was planning to pick him up last Friday but he got a cold so they couldn't neuter him while he had the sniffles so I picked him up last night. He's a Shih Tzu mix...they think with a Brussels Griffon. Adam and I named him Oscar and he seems to be adjusting to home life from pound life well as you can see. He's nothing but skin and bones, I cried the whole time I was giving him a bath last night but no one in my house stays thin long so I'm sure with a little time and a ton of TLC he'll be in the same boat as the rest of the gang.

justice of sorts

Dad just told me that the DA that handled our case called and Mr. Fortner pleaded guilty to our burglary charge and pleaded out on some of the others (against his Mom I'm sure). He is now in jail and was sentenced to 15 years. Dad said, "at 35 with AIDS maybe he will die there" but who knows. That's what Gordon (his step dad) said seemed to be his plan.....to die in prison. He won't be a problem for us about breaking in again but now we have to support him and his medical bills for the next 15 years. Dad said "I guess that is a loose/loose situation." But I feel that because we were so driven to make him face what he'd done now he won't be stealing people's things/memories, hurting and violating their lives like he did us and won't be driving on our streets high (he's also a crack head and some other drug that starts with a D addict). And as sad as it may be, odds are he won't make it back out of prison alive but he made his choices and now he has to live with them.
What doesn't kill us makes us stronger AND lesson learned...anger makes me a very driven and dedicated person.
Thank everyone for being supportive and praying we received justice and THANKFULLY we found Nanny and Granddaddy's jewelry.
