BIG changes

Some of you know...some don't but I was offered a position with Southern Natural Gas an El Paso Company in Houston, TX. I've been working as a contractor with El Paso since Sept. and was offered a full time position the last week of Dec. I'm scheduled to be in Houston no later than June 2010.

Neither one of us had ever been to Houston so Adam and I explored Houston, TX this past weekend...looking at 38 houses in 16 hours and only finding 3 maybes and 2 builders we may possibly build with. Neither of us are very excited about the move. I think we're both caught somewhere between stressed, overwhelmed and excited about a new start/clean slate. Adam is much more positive than I am but I can't help but be a realist.

The townhome in Grayson Valley will go on the market in the next week or so. If you know of anyone looking please send them our way. If the house hasn't sold by the end of May/early June I'm heading to TX without Adam and the kids. I'll stay with a friend at her apartment for a while or in an extended stay hotel until the house sells and then Adam and the kids will follow. Though there's always the chance I find a job here and we'll stay.

BIG year for me, turn 30 in a few weeks, move to another state (huge since I've never lived further than 20 min drive from my family) and completely different career direction.

ALSO! Libby found her FUREVER home in Walker Cty a few days after Christmas and Flux (soon to be CJ) will be flying to NY to his FUREVER home Feb 6th.

Christmas needs a home for the holidays

dec. 2009 - Christmas found a FUREVER home!!!!!!

Christmas is thought to be approximately 6 months old, Am Bulldog mix…. She was found in the street, cold & scared, in Moody, AL. No one responded to flyers or ads in the paper/CL; the local vets do not know her either so a friend of mine is fostering her until we find her the perfect home.
Day one she had a few accidents in the house, day two NONE.
She’s super sweet, smart and playful. She’s good with other dogs and Nicki’s two year old daughter; ok with cats so far.
She sleeps in a crate at night with her blanket and does fine. When in the house she likes to play with toys on her blanket. She’s eating well, on flea preventative and learning some of the basics. Christmas received a vaccination and rabies shots and was dewormed this week. There’s not a definite scar that she’s been spayed so we’re not sure she has been or not. She is NOT chipped.
If interested or know someone who may be or a rescue that can take her into their care or help us place her in a good home PLEASE contact me at bayleighsmom05@yahoo.com or Nicki at nicki_mlls@yahoo.com

snow day

Saturday's temp snow day was the girls' first snow.

Bella didn't like it and was hiding under my sweatshirt.

Maggie just ran thru it and jumped and kicked her feet.

Oscar wanted to eat it all!

Bay Leigh and Cam just didn't care.

UPDATE 12/2009

Ok so it’s been a while….I’m apparently not the best blogger out there but I’m writing now and that’s what counts, right? :)

I’m still job hunting, my current position was temporary from the beginning but Dec. 31st if fast approaching and so far nothing concrete. Finger, toes and paws crossed please, and TONS of prayers something comes thru SOON. I’m a planner and this “waiting to see” or “we plan to decide in January” is killing me.

Updates on the kids
Bella was 6 months old Saturday, she’s just over 4 lbs now and we’re waiting to hit 5 lbs to be spayed. She’s such a little ham and such a sweetheart, I never thought I’d even like a Chihuahua but she’s not a yappy dog and a SUPER sweetie! Loves giving kisses and sitting in my lap.

Maggie will be 11 months on the 9th, she’s taken the big sister/motherly role to Bella so well, she still steps on her at times but if Bella cries Maggie is the first on the scene. She’s such a character and though she was my birthday present from Adam’s mom last year he’s totally stolen her from me. He’s totally ridiculously nuts over that dog. Though she wasn’t suppose to reach 10 lbs she’s pushing 16 lbs fast and has the longest legs. She’s not the biggest (Cam is still a little over weight) but definitely the tallest of the pack.

Oscar was 2 years in December and doing well considering the where he came from. He still barks all the time at birds, loud cars, being running or stretching but he’s adjusting from street life well and LOVES the Christmas tree! He just sits there looking at it or naps on the back of the couch next to the tree. Super cute!

Bay Leigh will be 5 in February and is still the ref when there’s an argument. Bay Leigh has finally decided to be my cuddle bug again. I think he was too cool for a while to sit in Mom’s lap at night and cuddle but he’s slowly deciding he misses it too. So now he and Bella are in my lap, Oscar is behind me, Maggie is between Adam and I and Cam is either under one of our feet or on the other side of Adam. The couch is FULL! And Adam and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Cameron turns 9 this December and is losing weight. The vet told me he was border line obese in June so he’s suppose to be 25-27 lbs and we’re at 30 right now and he’s loving the cool weather. First time in a long time Cameron has gotten the puppy crazies but this last week he’s had them for a few minutes every night, seriously confuses the teenagers (Mag & Oscar) but that adds to the entertainment.

Jack, the explorer, has decided inside is better than outside when it’s cold so we’ve seen him a lot more than normal and thru a lot of hissing Jack and the folds have decided he gets the big chair in the living room, they have upstairs and the rocker from time to time.

Adam and I have decided the folds would be happier in a cat only home, so I’ve contacted the Scottish Fold rescue and Flux already has someone interested in him in NY. She sounds like a lovely lady. She’s had folds before, recently lost her male at 15.5 years (impressive age in my book) and still has his littermate/sister, Bonnie but wants to add Flux… I’ve spoken to her via email and phone and her vet reference has come thru wonderfully so now we’re just trying to figure a way to get him to his new home which is a cat only home and perfect for him since he’s terrified of all dogs but Bella. No interest in Libby yet but I’m hopeful she’ll find a great home too. Luckily she doesn’t mind the dogs and she and Jack don’t hiss at each other but give each other their space.

Adam and I are fine. I’m stressed about the job stuff and the possibility of a move to another state. Adam doesn’t let anything get to him until it’s in concrete so he’s same ol’ Adam. Christmas will be a much smaller affair this year but with the economy the way it is there’s no surprise there. I’m hoping to celebrate the new year out somewhere this year.

Mom, Dad and Michael are all well. Michael is job hunting too just in case (seems he gets laid off every year around this time). Dad’s company is doing pretty good and Mom newly diagnosed with diabetes is adjusting to the new diet and seems healthier and happier. She’s also taking on more and more at her church and seems to really enjoy it.

been a while....

I know it has been a while but I've been working at a temporary position at El Paso Gas, looking for a permanent position in the Birmingham area and doing a great deal with Cross My Heart Dog Rescue (I am now treasurer). The job is going well, keeps me busy and generally makes the day fly by quickly, job hunting is another story...why don't they call you back now even if they've decided to hire someone else a simple email stating that would be so much better than not hearing anything... we've had a month full of events for the rescue and hopefully 3 will be in furever homes this week. Woo Hoo! Just in time for Christmas!

For those of you who may be interested we still have many in need of a foster and/or a furever home so please check out the website!

I hope to post pictures of my fur babies soon but time doesn't allow now...

job hunting stinks

I'm still job hunting, it is exhausting and as much as I dislike the job at the bookstore I'm glad I have it. Adam has been so supportive and I'm seriously stressed out but there will be something sooner than later I hope that is perfect.
Keep your fingers crossed and as soon as I can I'll upload more photos of the fur-babies.

Cross My Heart Dog Rescue did very well this weekend. We placed two dogs in furever homes and raised a little money and awareness Friday night at our Paint for a Purpose finale and Saturday at the gathering at Cosmo's in 5 pts. (FYI if you haven't had brunch at Cosmo's you're really missing something- Shrimp and Grits were awesome!)

life

Life is tough sometimes, losing a job is very hard and disappointing but I'm lucky because Adam has been nothing but supportive, holding me, picking me up and then every now and then letting me cry it out. It is hard but it is so much better with a man that loves me so dearly helping me get thru it. I'm very lucky to have found such a remarkable man that I fell head over heels in love with and can count on to be my rock and support me no matter what. Thank you God for this man!
