Dumped Doberman and her pups in NEED

UPDATE at bottom of post

As many of you may know, we got a call about a doberman mom and her puppies yesterday and we had to act F-A-S-T! I picked up mama and 6 pups yesterday afternoon. Absolute sweethearts!! I took them to one of our primary vets, Deerfoot Animal Clinic. The pups are approx 11 wks old, averaging 11lbs each and have never had any vaccinations yet. We got all of them vaccinated asap and started deworming. They are staying there to be quarantined for 7-10 days to allow their first booster vax time to help and to monitor and make sure they are healthy. So far, no signs of any health issues.

Mama (Gwen) is scared but quickly bonds with you if you are baby talking and loving on her. She shows signs of being mistreated and her poor crop job someone did on her ears is sad BUT it's who she is now and we love her! She IS unfortunately heartworm positive but other than that seems to be a healthy girl. Gwen seems of great temperament, very loving, alittle while to trust, but very quiet and docile. So far from what we have seen she is great with kids and other dogs. Not sure about cats. She is getting a very much needed bath today and then going to a temp foster today. Updates on whether or not we'll need another foster to follow...

Mama's name is Gwen and babies are Brandon, David, Dylan, Brenda, Donna and Kelly. :) We will be getting pictures of each and posting them ASAP.

We need fosters and/or donations!

All Donations are tax deductible!!

1) Monetary donations can be sent to:
Peace Love & Dog Paws Rescue, Inc.
PO Box 43501
Birmingham, AL 35243

2) PAYPAL donations can be sent to our email address; "SEND MONEY" to PeaceLoveDogPawsRescue@gmail.com

3) Our vet will take donations by phone also, we need for someone to tell us they are donating by phone so we can keep up with everyone if they need a donation acknowledgment for their records. Deerfoot Animal Clinic 205-661-9680 (just let them know you are donating towards the Doberman Mix pups)

WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED TO HAVE THEIR SPAY AND NEUTER CERTS ALL DONATED!!

It was urgent that we rescue them and luckily they are safe!! We were full before these babies so boarding will be costly until we can find foster homes. We may have a rescue in South Alabama, A Stray Love Foundation, who will take two of the pups BUT we will need help with transporting them from Birmingham to possibly the Evergreen/Midway exit (halfway from Summerdale, AL). If you think you may be able to help in transporting 2 of these pups sometimes next week they will not be available to leave our vet for atleast 7 days, then please email me potts_alison@yahoo.com or peacelovedogpawsrescue@gmail.com and we can discuss details.

If you are interested in fostering for us, please go to our website and complete a foster application ASAP http://www.peacelovedogpawsrescue.com/app_foster_adopt.html

UPDATED PICS WITH THEIR NAMES ATTACHED COMING VERY SOON!!!!!

Thank you!!!

PL&DPR new additions

As the weather turns colder you'd think mankind would be kinder to animals but NO! We have been overwhelmed with pleas and these are the ones we've been able to help BECAUSE we have foster homes (if you'd like to help us save more lives please visit our website for more info and to send in a foster app)...not because financially we can afford everything needed (thank God for understanding vets that support our cause!) but because we had spots open... donations come, adoptions happen... SO here are the new adoptables! All our available dogs are on our website and petfinder
http://www.petfinder.com/pet-search?shelterid=AL280

Chachi, a 10-12 month old Golden Ret/Great Pyr mix, was a stray and luckily we had a foster open...

Dakota, approx 9 month old Golden Ret/Husky mix, was an emergency case that we had no option but to take in when an elderly lady called us that there was a puppy in her front yard with a bear trap on his foot. Our President went to get him and took him straight to our closest vet! Luckily the woman that fostered his sister (Clara) offered to foster him!

8 border collie/hound mix puppies were dumped on the side of the road in Tuscaloosa, AL... luckily one of our adopters was driving by and picked them up and has offered to foster them. Her old friend has adopted one so we took in the other 7!

Coal - male

Daisy - female

Hero IS in Birmingham

Hero has made it to Bham from Houston, TX!
Saturday 11/27 Alison and I met the transport in Mobile, AL to complete his transport to Bham.
He got a bath (possibly his first) that night and has already been neutered (11/29) & started his HW treatment (11/30).

He's apparently crate trained but since he was JUST neutered he is marking things but we're working on that. He's taken to cuddling on the couch and in our bed very well. He believes he's a lap dog and even though he's only 45 lbs now, it's hard to hold him... I'm going to try to put alittle more weight on him so it will only get harder to hold him... I just need a larger lap!
He gets along with all dogs, cats and kids he's been in contact with so he's an all around good boy!
He gives me kisses, wags his tiny tail and seems to smile when you talk to him... all he's ever wanted was to be loved and now that's exactly what he'll get!

Puppy update 12/1/10

The puppies will be 8 weeks old tomorrow (12/2/10)! They're doing well, growing strong and playing hard.
I attempted a few pics but here's a few of the best.

These babies cannot go to a foster-to-adopt home for a few more weeks and a partial adoption fee is due upon foster-to-adopt status (after app, vet ref and home visit approved).
An adoption cannot be complete until they are fully vetted, microchipped & spayed/neutered & this cannot happen until they has reached 5 lbs but no earlier than 16 weeks.

Out-of-state adoption will NOT be done until spayed/neutered. All adoption processes apply (adopttion app submitted with current vet info; vet ref done and a home visit completed and all approved)

Update on Redford! We still need a foster!!!!!

UPDATE 11/19/10
We spoke to the vet today. Redford can't have his paralyzed leg amputated until his broken shoulder has healed. He will need to remain at the vet at least 3 more weeks for his shoulder to heal & then he can have his amputation & neuter done..., he'll need 2-3 days of close observation & then he will get to go to a foster, foster-to-adopt or furever home! Just in time for the holidays if all goes as planned

Please continue to crosspost him so a foster or furever home can be found.
Also in hopes for donations for his care.
Thank you in advance from Redford & PL&DPR
