As many of you know I'm very tender hearted when it comes to animals… and I've rescued a few critters and helped many people find homes for their pets/strays. Well I have stumbled on this wonderful service for those of us who have pets that are astonished at the vet costs for yearly shots that keep our beloved pets healthy and happy longer… so I thought I'd share.
Dec. 6th I took Bay Leigh and Cameron to The Birmingham Humane Society for Low Cost Vaccination (they also do Microchips, deworming, and heartworm testing) by Dr. Vaughn Walker from Comforts of Home Vet Care. It is the first Saturday of the month from 12:00- 2:00PM for the next few months as well at the GBHS in the parking lot (so dress accordingly). The next one is Jan. 3, 2009 but you can check out the calendar, get directions or more info at http://www.gbhs.org/.
ALSO, on the website I learned a few months back of a low cost spay and neuter clinic in Irondale (which I recently used to get Michael's cat neutered and I was very pleased with the staff and facility-though i was wary in the beginning because it's in a modular building). You call them directly, you do not have to call or go to the humane society to use this facility. Their info is also on the GBHS website (search keyword: spay). They will NOT see your pet without an appointment and the nearest appointment when I called was a few weeks off. Their requirements, times and prices are listed on the site.
I hope this helps in some way.
